PostSubject: opinions on the G&G L85   Mon Apr 19, 2010 8:18 pm

I have always concidered owning one of these. While some think they look weird, I like the design.
A couple of pros IMO are that they use M4 mags which I have and its a bullpup design with an M16 lenght barrel. Does anyone have any bad things to say bout the internals or reliability of the weapon. I have seen in reviews that it shoots 350-380 but don't know about ROF?

Don't really know many of the pros and cons. In holding one, it felt awkward, but I am sure that is something that would pass with use. I have heard that you have to get used to the mag changes. From what I understand, you will often change the mag kind of the opposite of the m4, I mean in which hand you use to hold the mag. One thing that could be a positive is that it is a 2 piece gearbox design. So basically the cylinder, piston, spring are all in a tube that can be removed without opening the bottom part which houses the gears and anti reversal. From what I have heard, spring changes can be made much more easily.

Before I made the leap, though, I would spend some time holding one. They are kind of back heavy as you might suspect. I think i would certainly take one over an AUG.

Thanks for the link Frog. The gun is very interesting to me.
ASGI dude said he uses an 11.1 lipo so I guess the internals are good.
And Flint...I would like to ck out your Army version to get a feel of the weapon.
Thanks for the comments guys.

Well, I would probably use a 7.4 lipo with possibly a higher speed motor.. And I would disengage the blowback. It did crono at almost 400. No upgrades needed.

Andy at Airsoft Atlanta had one for sale about a month ago and I held his . . . felt clunky to me but it was a steal! He said he had run an 11.1 briefly in his and that it had taken a chip or two out of the piston. I am not a fan . . . they just feel awkward.

I have a second hand G&G L85A2. My experience is very subjective because I just love the model. I love you
In my case, I had some kind of trouble with the trigger that would prevent it from firing. A friend fixed it with a simple soldering job, but on semi it started firing like "2-dry-2-dry". I hope to get it fixed when I get home.
Apart from that, you must ALWAYS release the spring with the lever in the magwell (the cylinder cycle is reversed; first trigger pull loads the spring, the next time releases the cylinder and loads again).
In comparison to the ICS model, it does not have quick spring adjustment, but I think that is a minor issue.
Now, the good part is that it feels exactly like the real steel except for the bolt catch release. In addition, the 6.02mm tightbore is awesome. Right when I got it, it chronoed at 350-370FPS.

Now, after reading tons of reviews, do not buy the A1, it has some flaws that are corrected in the A2

No problem, I like even more talking about technical stuff than actually playing.
Now I have to make a correction, it DOES have a split gearbox

I have to tell you about what just I found.
As I was performing some maintenance I opened the gearbox and found out that the trigger's contact was worn out. The battery is a 8.4v 2000maH. You might have to consider to install a MOSFET or use a 7.2v battery (if you find or make one that fits the handguard)
